Andre Delano Beats Malik The Freq & Major Myjah To Top Spot, Round 1

“That was incredible!” “I can hear this on Urban AC Radio.” “I’ve got to make sure I get every one of your business cards.”  “You guys made my night.”  “Before you guys even played a note, I thought, ‘these guys know how to play!’”

Andre Delano and his band members, who went on to win Round #1 of LAMN Jam’s Urban Music Contest by one point, were delighted to hear these words, especially when spoken by industry experts whose interest can have real bearing on their career.

Bands Benefit From Constructive Feedback

Andre Delano now advances to the finale on June 14 to compete for the grand prize, but the point of the evening was not just to select a winner, it was also to give developing artists constructive feedback to advance their careers and improve their craft, especially commercially.  Talent judges included Felicia “The PoetessMorris, EMI VP of Label Acquisition and Development Jesse Flores, Bunim-Murray Productions Music Supervisor Max Luces-Tucker, music producer Joe Solo and Angel Diva Music’s Jan Linder-Koda.  Some of their comments:

Runners-Up Advance to Finale

Malik the Freq and Major Myjah were runners-up in the competition.  They advance to the finale on June 14 together with Andrea Delano to compete for the grand prize, a career launch package worth over $25,000 that includes a professional music video, personal consultation in performance, songwriting, marketing and business plan development; a professional photo session, resources and gear, and more.

Tuesday’s LAMN Jam completes Round #1 of the Urban Music Contest, sponsored by the Los Angeles Music Network.  Taking its popular “LAMN Jams” to a new level, LAMN invites urban and rock artists to perform original music for a panel of industry experts and receive live critiques at the 1616 Club located at 1616 East 15th Street, Los Angeles.

Performance Dates

These experts are hand-picked because they can do something meaningful for an artist’s career if they like what they hear. At past LAMN Jams, performers have been signed on the sport (Aunt Kizzy’z Boyz was offered a deal by RBC Records), had their music placed in network television (introduced by talent judge Jan Linder Koda to Fox Sports Executive Producer, artist Krash Karma placed a track with the program), and gotten production deals (like Jody Whitesides).
