This week, KTLA Morning News (Channel 5) sent out a crew to tape a preview segment at Skinny’s Lounge in support of our LAMN Jam contest launching next month.

LAMN Jam Segment Air date: Thu, June 5 at 8:30 a.m. on Sam Rubin’s “Entertainment Report.”

KTLA Producer and Reporter Lucas Rider prompted tons of great stories from those interviewed, including 2006 LAMN Jam winner Tim Fagan as well as talent judges Jan Linder Koda of Angel Diva Music and SIXX: A.M.’s DJ Ashba.

At the filming, Tim Fagan performed an unutterably lovely track (Strangers) from his forthcoming release “Moving Fast” and talked about how LAMN Jams have helped him develop as an artist.

It’s difficult to get objective feedback from friends and family about your music, he said, so having top-notch professionals provide constructive criticism and a platform like LAMN Jams was an enormous boost to his career. Six months later he won the John Mayer Songwriting Contest, was invited to tour with the Goo Goo Dolls and Lifehouse, and is now on tour with Colbie Caillet.

LAMN is proud to have recognized Tim’s talent early on.

Angel Diva Music’s Jan Linder Koda, who has acted as a talent judge at past LAMN Jams and will do so again on June 9, described how she helps an artist dig deep within himself to find his story and communicate it to the world. This level of mastery is a step beyond songwriting, and a critical craft for career artists who want to engage and stimulate audiences, time after time, with captivating performances. Jan helps artists achieve this, and is donating complimentary sessions to the LAMN Jam series winners (a $220 value). She coached Tim Fagan following his LAMN Jam win, and Tim credits Jan with helping him make significant strides in his live performances.

Also at our preview filming, DJ Ashba of SIXX: A.M. (a band he has formed with Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and James Michael) said he wished he had had the opportunity to participate in something like LAMN Jams growing up. A man of extraordinary artistic accomplishments himself, DJ is a talent judge on June 9 and has donated a Heroin Diaries guitar (made by Ovation, a $1,000 value) to the Grand Prize Package.
