We are delighted to announce that Derek Schaefer will judge talent at the LAMN Jam ROCK Music Contest on June 9, 2011 to take place at the 1616 Club in Los Angeles.
About Derek Schaefer
Derek Schaefer is Tour Marketing Director at AEG Live / Concerts West where he oversees all regional marketing for national tours such as The Black Eyed Peas, Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi and Usher, among others. He is currently working on the “Euphoria Tour” starring Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull and Prince Royce in the U.S. and Canada.
Prior to this, he was selected to oversee and launch the brand new Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles at L.A. Live, transitioning from a position at Goldenvoice Concerts where he headed up marketing for the company’s club division shows (El Rey Theatre, the Music Box at the Fonda, etc.). Derek has also held senior marketing positions at House of Blues and the Universal Amphitheater (now Gibson Amphitheatre), where he specialized in database and online marketing for venues ranging from the Anaheim club, Sunset Strip club to the Gibson Amphitheatre.
Derek got his start in the entertainment industry during college at Cal State Fullerton in 1994 when he interned at Triple XXX Records (home to the 1st Jane’s Addiction live record, Social Distortion, etc.). From there, he secured a position with a concert promoter in London, which ignited his passion for live music and secured his goal to work in the concert industry. He went on to hold internships at Capitol Records, Nederlander Concerts and Interscope Records. Landing his first job at Interscope in the mail room, he quickly worked his way up to the publicity department, where he helped secure press on touring bands (No Doubt, Marilyn Manson, Primus, Garbage).
